Founded in 1919, the American University in Cairo, AUC, is one of the leading higher education institutions in Egypt, internationally renowned for its excellence in the teaching, research, creative expression fields and the services offered. 100 years after its foundation, the campus has been recently renovated and redesigned in order to serve as a cultural centre: the opening to the community and the wide diffusion of convivial spaces are its main features. The aim is to offer society the opportunity to join cultural events, art exhibitions, concerts, lectures and much more.
The renovation work of the Tahrir cultural centre has included also the opening of a cafeteria designed by Style Design Architects studio and furnished with Pedrali products. A place of leisure and sharing, characterized by a contemporary design which harmoniously contrasts with the ancient stone walls, ready to hosts moments of conviviality thanks to the Arki-table, placed in the middle of the room, and while comfortable seated on Fox armchairs. Designed by Patrick Norguet, Fox is an armchair with a distinctive personality, defined by its harmonious mix of materials and contrasting geometric lines. It is proposed here with a polypropylene shell in sand and smoky blue shades, which give a touch of colour to the surrounding environment, combined with ash wood curved profile and legs. The warmth of wood also emerges through the Nym chairs and barstools, designed by CMP Design, where you can sit to enjoy a coffee break or to have lunch. To conclude, there are Malmö and Intrigo armchairs, Lunar tables and Babila barstools.
