Set Bend-sofa by B&B Italia
Patricia Urquiola has design a surprising collection of seating. Bend Sofa, as she called it, has an almost primal, monolithic shape. It seems as if it were moulded manually from supple material, using much the same techniques as a sculptor. In reality, it is the result of a study of 3D models and digital research. Bend Sofa creates an illusion of movement by alternating full and empty space, with contrasting seams which create an additional design on its surface. The backrest has an irregular shape, without, however, compromising comfort; the undulated modules, assembled starting with the seats, ottoman and corner sections, form a sofa that breaks out of the traditional visual patterns and sets itself apart from other contemporary pieces with its calculated eccentricity. Bend Sofa lends itself to flexible combinations, making it possible to create small, straight sofas, L-shaped sofas or two-way sofas for a spectacular version suited not only to domestic settings.
